The Ferrari Challenge Stradale lines up alongside the 360 Modena and 360 Spider with the precise aim of giving drivers the performance and feel of a true racing car for road use. Ferrari technicians started with the aerodynamics, optimised all major mechanical systems and set out to achieve the lowest possible weight. |
The Stradale's drastic weight loss, a total weight saving of 110 kg, is a significant achievement. The car has a racing suspension set-up (20% stiffer and 15mm lower) and aerodynamic modifications, which result in a 50% increase in downforce compared with the 360 Modena. |
A key factor in the search for the best weight performance ratio for the Challenge Stradale was adopting a braking system comprising carbon-ceramic (CCM) discs developed for Formula 1. The system generates astounding performance and short braking distances. |
Peak power output of the V8 engine has been raised to 425 bhp at 8,500 rpm for a power rating that exceeds 117 bhp/litre, making this the most powerful normally-aspirated V8 ever built by Ferrari. Reducing a car's weight brings a considerable increase in performance, particularly in pick-up and acceleration. The Stradale accelerates to 62 mph in just 4.1 seconds and reaches 124 mph in 13.9 seconds. |
New Pirelli super-low (35%) profile P Zero Corsa tyres adopted specifically for the Challenge Stradale fitted on 19 inch Challenge-style wheels. They produce very high lateral acceleration (1.3g) while maintaining superb balance. |
