VW Golf Mk2 Flooded Footwells - Seal Leaking Car Windows.

Car: 1991 VW Golf Mk2 1.8 Driver

Colour: Black

Flooded footwells are not usually too much of a big disaster, apart from the extra build up of condensation that you tend to get as a result. The real problem is usually finding out where the leak is coming from!

Finding a leak can sometimes take months! Leaks are usually easier to detect during a heavy storm or with the help of a hosepipe! Even then you might have to remove a few interior trim panels and/or crawl about inside to help locate the leak!

Leaks can come from sunroofs, doors, windows, rear lights, wipers etc.

On this car we eventually saw what we were looking for, the tiniest run of water on the inside of a window seal.

To fix the rubber window seal, we purchased a small tube of silicone from the car repair shop. Then rather than just silicone the leaking window, we siliconed all of the rear windows as this was an easy fix and there was enough in the small tube to do so.

As the car has dried out those condensation levels have dropped off too.

The clutch pedal rubber had worn so much that it would fall off every time you fitted it, and so was bined and replacement pedal rubbers were ordered.
Here the clutch pedal has been refitted with the new pedal rubber, and the well worn brake pedal was in the process of having it's rubber changed.

The accelerator pedal did not have one on, nor did the new set contain one.
