VW Golf Mk2 Dash & Instrument Panel Removal.

How to Remove Dash Panel & Instrument Cluster.

Car: 1991 VW Golf Mk2 1.8 Driver

Colour: Black

With the bulbs in the instrument cluster/ fascia panel having stopped working, it was time to replace them.

We were hoping to fit LEDs into the Instrument Panel to illuminate the dials (speedo, rev counter, clock, and temperature), rather than just replacing with bulbs again.

Whether fitting LEDs or bulbs, you still have the larger job of having to remove the dash panel before you can then get to the instrument cluster. Then you also have to remove the instrument cluster, so that you can then replace the bulbs as necessary.

Hence replacing all the light bulbs with LEDs, should mean we have to do all of this less often in the future, due to the longer lifespan of the LED's.

Removing the dash panel is not too tasking. The most difficult parts are removing the radio and cage and removing the speedo cable from the back of the instrument cluster.
Anyway watch the video to see just how easier it really is.
